We all know that life on this earth can be very stressful at times! Sometimes those stressors continue for months, years, decades or lifetimes! Whether our childhoods and earlier lives were mostly happy and peaceful, or wrought with traumatic events, there can be hurts that may become hindrances in our lives.
God did not intend for us to carry those hurts throughout our lives. He wants to heal them and help us progress in life and help others along the way. He wants us to have a restored and intimate relationship with Him.
Via Vita health utilizes the Immanuel Approach for emotional, spiritual and heart healing
The Immanuel Approach
Dr. Karl Lehman, M.D., a board certified psychiatrist, developed Immanuel Approach, integrating his Christian faith with contemporary mental health care. Later, Pastor Patricia Velotta began working with Dr. Lehman, M.D. and now leads Immanuel Prayer and has written, A Practicum Immanuel. Since its inception, people have been trained as coaches and facilitators to help others with this model of heart healing led by Jesus.
The Immanuel Approach to inner healing is based upon foundational biblical truths: “God is always with us, God always wants to connect with us and the average person can establish a two-way, interactive connection with God.” (immanuelapproach.com.)
According to Dr. Lehman (immanuelapproach.com), the brain-science principles that are applied in Immanuel Approach include:
Relational circuits: God has created a big chunk of our brains to serve as the neurological hardware for running relationships. We connect with each other and God when these relational circuits are online.
Positive memory recall and deliberate appreciation: Recalling a positive memory and deliberately stirring up appreciation will predictably, consistently, reliably activate our relational circuits. This will prepare our brains to connect with God.
Our relationships are memory-mapped. That is, our relationships with other people are carried in the memories for our past experiences with them.
